Question of the month: What do I need to bear in mind when using the Ada Health Check?

The symptom checker feature in the Compassana app helps you to get a diagnosis quickly and reliably. However, the app is only of limited use in certain situations, such as in the event of a medical emergency.

The symptom checker feature included in the Compassana smartphone app is based on technology developed by Ada Health. Please note that we recommend you call the emergency number (114) immediately or make your way to your nearest hospital emergency department if you experience any serious physical symptoms.

Critical symptoms include:

  • Severe, tight or pressure-like pain in the chest, especially if accompanied by pallor or sweating (because these could be signs of a heart attack)
  • One-sided drooping of the face and/or weakness in the arms, or difficulty speaking
  • Abrupt onset of confusion, drowsiness or disorientation
  • Severe breathing difficulties
  • Excessive bleeding of any kind
  • Seizures or convulsions
  • Sudden, rapid swelling of a part of the face or body
  • Thoughts of self-harm or ending one’s life
  • Burns or serious injuries, e.g. following an accident

Please note: a diagnosis made using Ada Health Check can never be a substitute for a final diagnosis by a doctor.
