Why is identity verification so important in the health care system?
Safe access to digital services is essential in the health care system. The confidentiality and security of patient data is our top priority. Where users have not yet been identified, they are prompted to complete their profile when they access particular functions. If personal data is not already recorded as part of the insurance login, it will be added in an initial step before the identity check is carried out by video. In this way, we can ensure that functions such as secure messaging or repeat medication orders can only be used by verified users. This actively prevents any unauthorised access.
How verification works
Identity verification can be carried out directly via the app. It either appears as a personal task on the user’s home screen or is initiated automatically when an app function for which verification is required is used. Once the scanned ID document has been checked, the identification process is completed by means of facial verification, including liveness detection. This ensures that the ID document and the person it belongs to are one and the same.

In certain cases, additional checks may be performed to guarantee that confidential medical data is kept secure and protected.
