Question of the month: As a relative or carer, what do you need to know about Compassana?

Compassana can be a valuable tool if you are helping a loved one with their medical needs. It only takes a few simple steps to ensure that your loved one is well looked after in both day-to-day life and in the event of an emergency – in a digital and organised manner.

Your support is particularly important for those who tend to struggle with digital applications. Together, you can:

  • install the Compassana app and create an account
  • enter medication lists or scan barcodes
  • upload medical reports and test results
  • save contacts for specialists
  • check regularly to ensure that everything is up to date

And the more information you provide, the more useful the app will be – for appointments, treatments or sudden ailments.

Share data purposefully

Together, you can decide which information your GP, hospital, pharmacy and Spitex are authorised to access. Be open about the situations in which support is desired and when it is not. The person receiving care must be able to make their own decisions.

Practical tips for day-to-day life

  • Use the symptom check to obtain initial guidance in the event of an emergency.
  • Review the information about every three to six months.
  • Provide support with scheduling appointments or documenting treatments.
  • Agree together on what to do in an emergency – especially if the person you are caring for is unable to take action themselves.
